1 Corinthians 9:24-27 says, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."
The Bible talks a lot about running the race, using words like endurance and perseverance. The reality is that walking with God is not a quick sprint, we have to be in it for the long haul.
Now I am not saying we should be out to race against other Christians. God has given each of us a different path and lane to run in. My goal is not to place first but to do well – for the sake of giving my best to the one who gave his best for me.
Much like training for and running a race, our walks with Jesus also require self discipline. Building the will to say "no" when our insides say "yes"! Who's in for giving your best for the one who gave his best for you? Will it be hard? Yes! Will you be exhausted and burn out at times? Yes! Will it be worth it? Absoloutelyyyyy!
My prayer is that God uses these short devotionals to encourage and challenge you.
