"The way you think effects the way you feel, the way you feel effects the way you act." -Rick Warren
Luke 11:34 says,
Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness.
He is not talking about physical eye sight here. He is talking about the focus of your life and where you are guiding your life to go. If your focus is bad then your life and your health is going to be bad. If your focus is good then your life will be good. Notice I didn't say easy. This is exactly why getting in His word and starting our day with Him completely changes the direction our day goes! When our focus is on Him and being healthy, we will see a huge change.
Who's in for changing our focus this week? For starting off in His word and focusing on His goodness!
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His faithful love endures forever." Psalm 118:1
As I sat down this morning to prepare my heart for the day ahead, I just kept thinking about how God's love never ends. This year has been full of highs and lows. Moments of complete confidence, and moments of insecurity.
One thing I am certain of is that no matter what, God's love endures forever. He is good and even in the storms and fears of life, we will praise Him still. Why? Because He has done way too much not to! Our joy is not found in the gift, but in the giver.
I hope you have an amazing thanksgiving with your families or friends today!! Soak it up.
“I believe everyone has God- sized dreams. It’s not about how big or small they are, because he creates each one to perfectly fit the size of YOUR heart.” -Holley Gerth
Your dream may be to move across the world and start an orphanage. Another women’s dream may be to live on a farm and homeschool her children, raising them up to be Godly men and women. These are both God- sized dreams and EQUALLY important to God! It’s not so much what you do, as how you do it. God has given us passions and desires for a reason. He wants us to pursue those whole heartedly, following Him wherever He may lead!
“When life is hard it’s easy to focus only on the bad things and forget all about the good things God has given us. But God has blessed every one of us in ways we often overlook.” -Billy Graham
Take inventory of God's goodness today! No matter how hard life may seem, God is working and He is near. It's amazing how our attitude changes when we focus our hearts on His goodness.
Comment below with one thing you are thankful for today!
For me: I am thankful for my apartment. It's easy to focus on wanting a house, but I am reminded today that many do not have the luxury of living in such a nice place. A place where they feel safe, protected and at peace.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. [Genesis 1:27]
The purpose of a mirror is to show an image, just as we are made in an image as well- the image of God. We reflect God's image to the people looking into our lives. That's an important task that we as women of God should not take lightly! We should constantly be checking and strengthening our relationship with Jesus, so that our reflected image of God doesn't shatter. We do this by spending time with God, obedience and forgiveness. My prayer today is that each time we look in the mirror we would be reminded to take care of the image we reflect of the Lord to the world around us.
Romans 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
This is truly a way to worship him, by being a good steward of the one body He has given us!
Proverbs 15:13 reminds us that a HAPPY heart makes a CHEERFUL face! Allow God and His word to invade your heart today and fill you with His JOY! Joy is only found inside of Jesus. When we are filled up, we can't help but let it overflow into every area of our lives!
"I want to live a life that captivates and cultivates a holy beauty. It is a life that doesn't give God His own compartment, but one where He saturates every part; Health, relationships, marriage, dress, motherhood." -Emily Copeland
I LOVE that quote from Emily Copeland! We live in a world that is OBSESSED with outward beauty. Many women feel lost, broken, confused and completely insignificant because of the pressure they feel from the worlds standards.
I don't know about you but I want exactly what Emily described- a HOLY beauty! A beauty that isn't defined by size, success, the perfect home or perfect hair. I want a life that RADIATES and SHINES JESUS! That's where you find joy. That's where you will find significance. That's where you will find peace.
My prayer this morning is that in my marriage, health and relationships, I would honor God. (Psalms 45:11) That I would be reminded DAILY that this is all for HIS glory and not my own!
So you didn't stick to your diet 100% this weekend. Just because we have a not so good day of eating, doesn't mean we just throw in the towel. We just make the next meal and day better! It's much like our walk with The Lord. Can you imagine if we just threw in the towel the second we sinned? We wouldn't make it as Christ followers for even a day!
Remember when it comes to nutrition and our walks with The Lord it is a marathon, not a sprint. We are overcomers if we are inside Christ!
"But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." - Romans 8:37
When we fail to prepare, we prepare to fail.
In Genesis 25: 29-34 we see Esau give up his birthright for a cup of soup. All for a moment of physical satisfaction. He sacrificed what was good in the long term for what felt good in the short term. Be on guard sisters! Satan is out and about with devised schemes to lure you away from your commitments. Be women IN and OF the Word. Prepare for the battle and be on guard! Now go have an amazing Friday and be a light for Jesus!
My prayer is that God uses these short devotionals to encourage and challenge you.
