Over the past few days I have been studying the life and imprisonment of Paul in Acts 23-25. Paul was in prison for 2 years, mainly because his trial kept being delayed. The Jews wanted Him dead but no judge could find any reason for his imprisonment, much less his death. Rather then standing up and saying so the judges continued to push his court dates aside, hoping to find a reason to arrest him.
Hear God’s Word for you: "All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God, how vast is the sum of them." - Psalm 139:16-17
God has written your story and every single one of your days was ordained by Him for His glory. Yes, even the painful moments. The moments when we want to say "why God?" even those were allowed and ultimately written into the story of your life.
If you are in Christ, you have experienced His transforming power and He wants you to use your story to bring Him glory. This morning during my prayer time, He gave me this acronym as a way to remember why my story matters. Your story is...
-Spirit filled and led once you have given your life to Jesus! Even the messy parts can be used for His glory.
-Transforming in the lives of other who have shared in similar struggles. God wants to use your story as a tool in helping others realize there need for Him.
-Ordained by God. He wrote every detail. Ultimately it's not your story- it's His!
-Real and authentic. It may be painful or embarrassing to you, but others can relate because it's REAL. People are tired of seeing this "fake" picture. It's our responsibility as believers to allow others in to see the beauty of God taking a real person with real struggles and redeeming them for His glory!
-Yours. Your story is no one else's. You have endured specific things for specific reasons and your story is not an accident.
"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day draw near." Hebrews 10:22-25
"We have to be so convinced that God's ways are better then ours that we would rather live a hard life then an empty life." - Michelle Myers
Heading into this week excited because of who I am in Christ. He has a unique calling on our lives sister and our only concern should be honoring and living that calling out! You will be called names and labeled because of who You are in Christ Jesus, but that's okay. Why? Because the reward of following Jesus is far greater.
In everything we do, let's be a reflector to Him.
My prayer is that God uses these short devotionals to encourage and challenge you.
