Philippians 4:12-13 says, "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
This is a popular verse when it comes to competing and pushing through, but what Paul is really talking about here is CONTENTMENT.
Paul was content because he could see life from God's point of view. He focused on what he was supposed to do, not what he felt he should have. He was thankful and grateful for what he had been given and knew that every circumstance and situation he went through was a chance to display the hands and feet of Jesus.
It's easy to get caught up in comparison and competing in today's "always wanting more" culture. My prayer is that the Lord would help me see life through HIS point of view. Will you join me in praying this over your own life and heart today?
These words have been on repeat for me lately. James 1:22 says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."
We live in a culture that is constantly claiming Jesus but for many there is zero obedience. We want the goodness of God without having to surrender over our own will and wants.
Following Jesus will never be easy ladies. It will always be tough and will require a constant repentance, refocusing and surrender of self. The good news is that when we surrender to God we will experience so much more!
I love the way my Pastor put it yesterday. "If you're sorry about your sin then be bold enough to take action because sorry doesn't cut it!"
