These words have been on repeat for me lately. James 1:22 says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."
We live in a culture that is constantly claiming Jesus but for many there is zero obedience. We want the goodness of God without having to surrender over our own will and wants.
Following Jesus will never be easy ladies. It will always be tough and will require a constant repentance, refocusing and surrender of self. The good news is that when we surrender to God we will experience so much more!
I love the way my Pastor put it yesterday. "If you're sorry about your sin then be bold enough to take action because sorry doesn't cut it!"
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
You never know how one word could encourage or build someone up. While you may think the women around you have it all together and our full of confidence, the exact opposite might be happening inside their heart.
As believers and women CONFIDENT in our calling, we are called to be be fountains not drains. Love on your friends and celebrate what God is doing in their lives! Nothing makes me happier then when a woman tells me the SPIRITUAL impact I have made in her life. How I have helped her grow and discover more of who God made her to be. Those are the kind of friends we need and need to BE.
Let's be known for lifting and encouraging other women up! Helping them GROW in their walks with the Lord. Think about who you can love on today and maybe even share her first name below!
And your story is one of the greatest witnessing tools that you have as a follower of Christ!
D.L. Moody said this, "There is no better evangelist than the Holy Spirit" and guess what- if you are in Christ then the Holy Spirit lives in YOU! He has equipped you with everything you need and He will lead you with what to say and how to say it.
Let's engage in the battle this week ladies! Yes, even our health and fitness journey is a chance to see and share Christ. We can't do any of this on our own and seeing success in any of it is a direct outcome of the strength the Lord has given us.
Let's challenge each other to share that this week! Not passively, but boldly! Who's with me?
We deceive ourselves when we weigh our contentment or joy in life by how much we weigh, how heavy of weights we can lift, what pant size we wear, how much money we have and how many things we have.
We think these things will make us happy, only to discover they don't really satisfy and will only fade away. The true measurement of happiness and contentment is found in God's love and doing His will. You will find TRUE happiness if you put your relationship with God over everything else!
Let's not get it confused this week sister. Cheering you on as you pursue Him for true satisfaction!
In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
This world offers a lot of stuff that can easily fill our time and steal all of our attention. It can be so easy to become caught up and consumed by its offerings. One thing I can promise you though is that filling up on Jesus will never leave you empty like every offering that this world tries to give you.
1 Corinthians 22-19 tells us to "Devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God." and Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep your heart with all vigilance for from it flow the springs of life."
Here's the deal. If we want to live victorious inside of Jesus, we must fill up on Him! We have to start the day with His word and intimate time in prayer if we want to be prepared to fight to protect our hearts and live boldly for Him!
If you haven't stopped to talk with Him this morning, stop right now and spend time with Him. Download a good devotional (I recommend @sheworkshisway @proverbs31ministries or solid joys by John Piper) and dive into His teachings! In Christ alone we find TRUE satisfaction and joy!
The first step to loving yourself and who God made you to be, is loving Him first. Giving Him supremacy in and over your life in ALL things.
John 3:30 says, "He must increase, but I must decrease."
I love the song Cause of Christ by Kari Jobe. It says, "the only thing I want in life is to be known for loving Christ. To build his church to love his bride and make His name known far and wide."
Lord, make that our prayer! Life isn't about being a size two, making more money, having a bigger house, getting tons of likes on social media or more followers. It's about living a life that magnifies His name. he should be at the center of your life!
That's when you will experience freedom in every area of your life. Will you still struggle? Yes! But because your focused on making much of Him you will have less stress, worry, anxiety and doubt about who He has made you to be.
On this Valentine's Day let's focus on serving and loving those around us out of an overflow of our love for our Savior. Not just today, but every day.
You are a child of God. -Galatians 3:26
You are known, chosen, redeemed, forgiven, fearfully and wonderfully made, adopted into the family of God. He made you on purpose and with purpose -Jeremiah 29:11
He knit YOU together. -Psalm 139:13
He rejoices over YOU. -Isaiah 62:5
So why look anywhere else for our value? Let's enter the second half of our week with a thankful heart for the goodness of our God!
No matter how big the giant in front of you may seem, know that with God ANYTHING is possible!
If He has called you to something then He will give you the strength, discipline and endurance to make it happen.
Whether it's your health, business, career, a relationship.. whatever it is lets commit this week to leaning into Him and watching Him work!
Fight to keep Christ the center of every area of your life! Your marriage, parenting, fitness, career, business, etc. Then and ONLY then will you experience true fulfillment and freedom!
Let's make it our goal to utter the same words Paul did at the end of His life, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Colossians 3:2
Our thought life, and the messages that we tell ourselves, determine how we feel. Our feelings determine our actions. Ultimately, changing our habits & behaviors must begin with challenging negative & unhealthy mindsets. When I want to quit in the tough moments of my workouts, I tell myself (yes, out loud!) “Come on Caroline !"
Train yourself to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Memorize the scripture below or come up with a saying specific to your struggle that you can use to defeat the negativity.
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
My prayer is that God uses these short devotionals to encourage and challenge you.
